Daily Tip: Upload Zip Files to the WordPress Media Library and Attach to Any Post or Page

June 4, 2011

I love handy little plugins that can save you loads of time. Upload Media by Zip is a new plugin that saves you the hassle of having to select and upload multiple files in order to attach them to a post. It allows you to upload a zip file from your computer and then let WordPress unpack it and attach all of the content to a page or post.

Here’s what it looks like from the Media menu if you don’t need to attach the contents to a specific post:

When working in the post edit screen, you upload zip files by clicking on the new icon attached to the editor:

If you ever need to attach hundreds of images or other file types to a post, then this plugin will help you do that much faster. The Upload Media by Zip is available for free from the WordPress plugin repository.

Because this plugin/widget is provided free of charge, I simply ask you to link back to Pressography.com in a post on your blog, or from one of your sites. It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just a note saying that you're using it, and whether or not you like it. However, there is no requirement that you do this, you're free to use the plugin regardless.
